What is LIP-Learning?
Provided by Living in Peace (LIP) Refugee Project, LIP-Learning is a diverse learning program that supports refugees with everyday life in Japan.
LIP is now providing a Japanese language learning program that is essential to daily life and job-hunting. This year, LIP will continue this program to assist refugees with their Japanese language studies online.

For the refugees and immigrants who are now living in Japan, LIP would like to support them and help them build an independent life without racism and discrimination.
Application Guide
Qualifications
Applicants who meet the following criteria may apply to the LIP-Learning program:
1. Hold convention refugee status or can provide evidence of refugee status/background from refugee supporting groups
2. Show a strong will to learn Japanese and aim to apply for jobs that require Japanese or improving livelihoods
3. Can attend lessons regularly and plan to stay in Japan for at least one year during the program
4. Can attend two lessons every week (*Please refer to program details)
5. Able to maintain good marks and regular progress in their studies, which LIP volunteers will regularly monitor, to keep enrollment in LIP-Learning
6. Able to attend need-based JLPT tests and online sessions throughout the LIP-Learning program
7. Can attend lessons online
8. Can proactively support the promotion of LIP-Learning and other activities during and after the course
9. Not currently enrolled in a free Japanese language program at another organization, university, etc.
Program Details
One-year online Japanese language program provided by a LIP-designated school. Lessons take place twice a week on a fixed schedule (※schedules can be discussed before the program starts).
Generally, courses will be group sessions. One-on-one lessons are negotiable.
(※This program does not provide any monetary support. Attendees are responsible for their internet access.)
